Math students utilize problem-solving skills

Students in Mr. Titus' junior high math classes began the school year working on problem solving by building boats made out of aluminum foil. Students tested their boats in water to see how many pennies they could hold, then had the opportunity to think through the design of their boats, make revisions, and try their boats again to see if they could hold more weight. Mr. Titus encourages students not only to further their knowledge of arithmetic and mathematical formulas but also their abilities in logic, critical thinking, and mathematical practices.
